I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas I certainly did. I had a large surprise when my sister gave me her red and white quilt she entered and won for in the summer quilt challenge. I was so shocked, all the months she worked on it she was apparently already planning to give it to me. I have made and given away a lot of quilts but you know I can't recall ever getting a quilt that was made for me. What a special gift.
I also finally took some time to work on my class samples. I have been having fun and really stepping out of the box with my fabric selections. At first I was thinking oh boy these colours are too much, but when it was all said and done I really love the end results. I used the Simply Color charm pack for my version of 9 patch scramble. I have to say I am really happy with the results.
Doesn't it look almost 3D! Very pleased with this project.
Next I saw this great tutorial online for an interlocking block and thought ok, you haven't given yourself a challenge in awhile so lets see what happens. Pretty cool! I have included the link below if you want to give it a try or join me for a class at The Cloth Castle for my own hints and tips on this block.
Have you seen the really quick and easy plus sign quilts? What a great scrap buster. This was so quick and easy to make.
I finally finished the scarf I was knitting too. It has actually been done for awhile, all it needed was to be blocked. Just like binding it is those finishing steps I just don't like doing. Also this was a sock yarn, it took forever to finally get it done. A fast knitter I'm not. I forced myself to block it as it is so soft and I would like to wear it this winter. The picture I had to take by myself so not the greatest but it is scarf you are supposed to looking at it not me! Haha.
Here are a few more shots of our Christmas. This is the first year that my brother isn't home so it was a little different. With skype it was like we were all together. We sure are lucky to have all these wonderful ways to keep in touch!
You can just see Brad and his girlfriend Jodie on the screen.
My sister is opening a gift from them.
My sister Miriam (aka the rogue quilter) on Christmas Eve.
We don't have any little kids around but my mom has cat that loves paper!
Happy New Year everyone.
OMG, that's beyond...beyond...I don't even have the words for it! I'm wiping away the tears of joy for you and what a special sister you have! Miriam you rock! Happiest of New Years!
